    Experience:
    Marieke studied Neuropsychology at Utrecht University and graduated cum laude in 2010. She performed her PhD under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Iris Sommer in the UMC Utrecht, on the topic of childhood trauma as a risk factor for psychosis (defense: September 6th, 2017). Concurrently, Marieke was the project manager on a multicenter randomized double-blind placebo-controlled trial, evaluating the efficacy of simvastatin treatment in recent-onset psychosis (http://www.psychoseconsortium.nl/studies/simvastatine). She also combined her research activities with a teaching position at Utrecht University, Department of Experimental Psychology. At present, Marieke is a postdoctoral research fellow in the UMC Groningen in the lab of Iris Sommer, where she is the project manager on the HAMLETT study (see below). She continues her research on psychosis, treatment, cognition and childhood trauma. She was awarded a Travel Fellowship by the Schizophrenia International Research Society in 2018.

    Ongoing projects:
    Project manager on the multicenter HAMLETT study, a national trial sponsored by ZonMw. We study the effects of continuation versus early discontinuation of antipsychotic medication in first-episode psychosis. Collaborating with 23 Dutch health care institutions, we include 512 patients across the Netherlands. Marieke is also involved in the Care4Cognition project (Zorg voor Denken), sponsored by the Dutch Brain Foundation (de Hersenstichting).
